Dan Sylvia

Dan Sylvia has been coaching softball for the past 14 years. He began coaching in the Phoenix Softball league which is now known as the South Coast Fastpitch league. Dan was also the Vice President of the South Coast League during the 2005 season. He also coached the 14 and under tournament team that came out of that league, Fairhaven Heat. He later went on to create a 16 and under tournament team, Mass Lightning. Both tournament teams were very successful under his tender, winning several championships. The 16 and under Mass Lightning team also went on to win the 18 and under Invitational by the Bay tournament. Since 2003 Dan has been actively involved in the Bishop Stang High School Softball program. He began as a volunteer for the JV program in 2003 and 2004 then took over the JV program for the 2005 season. In just one short year he became the Varsity head coach. In the past two years the Varsity team at Stang has made it to the 2007 Division II South Finals and the 2008 Division II South Final Four. Thus far, during his tender as the Varsity coach at Bishop Stang High School he has compiled a record of 43 wins and only 19 losses!

Gary Gallagher

Gary Gallagher has had quite the baseball career. He pitched at the varsity level for 3 years for the Walpole High School Baseball team. In which time He led the team to the State tournament for the first time in 12 years. The team made it to the final round, unfortunately, losing to Seekonk. After his High School career and being named to the Boston Herald and Patriot Ledger all Scholastic team he signed with the University of Hartford. While there he excelled and the team to its first post season NCAA tournament. Gary even spent a short period with the Chatam A’s before suffering a season ending injury. Later he was offered a spot in the Canadian Baseball League which he turned down. He then became the assistant coach/pitting coach at Mansfield High School. While coaching there the team made it into the post season tournament for the first time in more then 15 years! He is extremely skilled as a hitting and pitching instructor.
